European Labour and Employee Relations Network
The leading peer network for senior-level labour and employee relations professionals in major European companies
The European Labour and Employee Relations Network (European LERN) is one of four labour groups that compose ORC Worldwide’s Global Labour and Employee Relations Networks. European LERN brings together top labour, employee relations and human resources executives to discuss current issues, best practices and initiatives, and trends that affect their companies and their labour relations strategy.
Members analyse management and union strategies, meet with European labour experts, and network with their professional peers. Member companies have unionised workers—skilled and unskilled—and represent a wide range of industries operating in Europe—manufacturing, consumer products, telecommunications, services, utilities, and others. The composition refl ects the diverse character of European business, and has earned European LERN its reputation as the premier labour relations peer group in Europe.
Members are the nucleus for the group’s activities. They help provide the information that makes the group unique. All network activities—sessions, webcasts, surveys—are driven by members’ input regarding their most pressing labour and employee relations concerns.
Membership Benefits—Sessions, Updates, Webcasts, Surveys, and More
In addition to the six sessions held annually, European LERN is a virtual community offering members a network of fellow members and regular updates, surveys and webcasts that will keep you abreast of critical labour and employee relations developments. Members receive updates regarding critical EU and UK employee relations issues, including key legislative policy decisions. Webcasts are offered on European and global labour issues, and are open to participation by members’ colleagues around the globe.
Pulse member surveys are conducted on hot issues that require quick turnaround, typically in less than four days. The monthly European LERN Newsletter provides a comprehensive overview of labour topics to share with your colleagues worldwide. ORC also offers ad hoc advisory services regarding European Works Councils and UK employee consultation, and European LERN serves as a voice in Brussels and London and elsewhere so that the concerns of multinational employers are heard and understood.
Members meet at sessions six times during the year, with three sessions focused on EU issues and three sessions focused more on UK issues. The two-day EU-focused meetings are held in Brussels or central Europe, while the half-day UK focused sessions are held in London. The sessions offer high-level discussion following the roundtable format with ample sharing of information, experiences, and best practices. The group adheres to a strict policy of confidentiality, thereby creating a bond of trust among members and fostering strong camaraderie.
Meeting agendas address members’ most pressing labour issues. Sessions include ORC-facilitated discussions, as well as presentations by members, prominent labour experts, and guest speakers. In addition to the formal discussions, the EU-focused sessions offer an ORC-hosted dinner that allows members to network in a more relaxed setting.
