Pacific Rim Labor/Industrial Relations Advisory Group

A network for those in charge of Pacific Rim industrial relations or union relations for major organizations based in the United States

Does your company have operations in Australia, China, India, Japan, Malaysia, South Korea, or any other country in the Pacific Rim? Are you responsible for handling labor relations and dealing with union organizing campaigns in these countries? Then you realize the importance of knowing and understanding the different labor laws and practices in order to manage culturally diverse workforces effectively and negotiate successfully.

The newly formed Pacific Rim LIRAG provides a forum for U.S.-based professionals to share experiences, gain practical knowledge, and learn from experts in the field. By sharing experiences, members expand their knowledge and develop a network for continuous exchange of information. Through confidential discussions, they review recent contract settlements and differences in laws and customs that influenced the outcomes.

In two meetings per year, the group discusses labor relations issues in Pacific Rim countries. Guest speakers (management executives, government officials, legal experts, and labor practitioners) offer their perspectives and insights into how U.S.-based labor professional can best achieve the labor results that support their company’s business objectives. Between meetings, ORC will provides members with updates on issues that affect labor relations in the Pacific Rim, as well as facilitate members’ interactions.
