Human Resources in Research and Development Network
A network for executives or senior generalists at companies committed to research, engineering, or product/process development
Organizations with a major commitment to research, engineering, or product/process development face the ongoing challenge of finding, developing, rewarding, and retaining the most sophisticated members of today's skilled workforce. The HR executives of such organizations are on the front line, competing for costly individual technical contributors such as scientists, engineers, and software designers.
This group helps those executives meet that challenge. It meets twice a year for intense sharing of best practices, group analysis of new ideas, discussion of current issues common to the membership, and open and confidential exchange of information. Because the industries represented range from consumer products to scientific research, from pharmaceuticals to software, and from computer technology to energy, the exchange of best practices is particularly rich.
Concerns range from the workforce impact of M&As on R&D to HR's role in partnering with R&D leaders to performance management, diversity, and other workforce issues. Between meetings, members of this multi-industry group stay connected through Web-based interchanges and ORC-guided surveys, research studies, and policy and practice pointers.
