Health and Welfare Benefits Network
A network for senior-level benefits professionals responsible for corporate health and welfare policies
The Health & Welfare Benefits Network brings together senior-level benefits professionals in major corporations that have demonstrated a leadership position in health care and benefit design, and are recognized for their effective health care policy.
Members meet regularly to discuss issues regarding corporate health and welfare benefits programs and the more broad national health care debate, with a focus on best practices, emerging issues of concern, benchmarking, and new delivery models. They benchmark the latest health care trends, policies, and practices being successfully employed by large organizations—enabling more informed decision making regarding corporate health care programs.
Meetings are confidential and use the roundtable format, thereby allowing participants to speak candidly in a highly participative forum with their professional peers. Sessions are conducted in an environment of shared knowledge of the most critical issues and developments in the field, such as consumer-directed health care initiatives, employee wellness and productivity, retiree medical benefits, managing vendors and providers, policy issues and more.
The Network meets twice during the year for two-day sessions, typically in New York, Washington, D.C., or at a member’s corporate headquarters. Members interact with health care policy experts, benefit design thought leaders and government officials. Agendas are determined by member input and address members’ most pressing health and welfare benefits concerns. Joint meetings are sometimes held with ORC Worldwide’s Physicians Group, whose members are corporate medical directors of Fortune 300 organizations. These joint sessions are designed to leverage the collective experience and wisdom of the human resource and medical functions to advance a more integrated strategy for managing the health of the workforce.
Throughout the year, members maintain contact and discussion via a secure members-only Web site that offers members’ contact information, meeting details and regularly updated health and welfare materials. Additionally, ORC conducts ad hoc, on demand surveys and offers access to consulting, research, and data services. Members also receive regular e-updates on pressing legislative developments regarding health care policy regulations.
Members typically hold the title of vice president, director or manager of global benefits, employee benefits or health care benefits. Each company may designate one or two representatives to participate as network members.
